Woody Harrelson, fresh off Triple 9, is joining a new movie from In Bruges director Martin McDonagh.

Woody Harrelson’s Triple 9 may not be anything to write home about, but that’s okay. It’s time to look toward the future. Harrelson hasn’t been quite as busy as Matthew McConaughey, partially due to being involved with The Hunger Games, but now he’s finally getting around a bit more.

According to Deadline, Woody Harrelson, Frances McDormand, and Sam Rockwell will star in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Quite a name. The new film will be directed by Martin McDonagh, a man whom you may not know by name, but you are most likely acquainted with a past film of his: In Bruges.

Whether or not this will be anything like In Bruges is not quite clear, though the description sounds rather intense. McDormand will play a woman who “goes to war” with local police over the murder of her daughter by accusing them of spending more time “torturing black people” than solving her case.
It doesn’t sound like the fun type of crazy that McDonagh’s previous films are, but we’ll see.

McDonagh also directed Seven Psychopaths, a film also starring Sam Rockwell that shares a lot of sensibilities with In Bruges. Fans of those two films won’t have to wait all too long, it seems, as most of the pre-production work seems to have been finished. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri will start filming in April.

It’s a strictly indie affair, as McDonagh’s films tend to be, but hopefully its distribution will go better than The Lobster.
