During an appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ Peter Capaldi discussed why he decided it was time to leave ‘Doctor Who.’

WARNING: THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SERIES 10 OF DOCTOR WHO. TIME IS A TIMEY-WIMEY BALL, BUT THERE WILL BE NO GOING BACK IF YOU READ THIS. THIS POST IS A FIXED POINT IN TIME. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

We know that Peter Capaldi is leaving Doctor Who, and now we know why. Capaldi explained why he was leaving the show on a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show.

That of course makes sense, you don’t want to be the Doctor until you don’t enjoy it anymore. This is especially true because in some ways you’re never not the Doctor anymore. Once you’re a the Doctor you’re always the Doctor with fans. So you certianly don’t want a bad taste in your mouth as the part is going to follow you.

What we found particularly interesting in this interview though was what Capaldi said about filming his death and the Christmas special. Something timey-wimey has to be happening because the rumors are that we know who the next Doctor is and that he will be in the final episode of series 10.

How can the new Doctor be in the last episode of series 10 and Capaldi still be in the Christmas special? This might be one of the most interesting Doctor deaths yet! That’s good too, because the death of Matt Smith’s Doctor was sadly very disappointing. David Tennant’s Doctor however got a bit of a farewell tour before he regenerated, so perhaps that could play into this?

Whatever happens at the end of series 10 it will be end of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. If this series continues on the course it’s on now we may have an all time classic year of Doctor Who!
