Gloria inches closer to discovering Ray and Nikki’s role in the murders of Maurice LeFay and Ennis Stussy in the “Fargo” episode ‘The House of Special Purpose.’

A lot went wrong for the Stussy brothers in the latest episode of Fargo. Ray lost his job as a parole officer due to his engagement to his parolee, Nikki Swango, and his Corvette has a boot on all four wheels after recently getting rammed by Sy’s Hummer.

Meanwhile, Emmit continues to contend with Varga, who unexpectedly showed up to his home for dinner to discuss a lucrative deal that will purportedly make him a billionaire. But the revelation that he knows all about his escalating feud with his brother may prove problematic down the road. That’s not to mention the fact that Emmit’s own brother stole $10,000 from his bank account, and disposed of his dog’s cremains.

In season 3, episode 5, entitled “The House of Special Purpose,” Ray continues his attempt to squeeze every cent he can out of his brother in lieu of the valuable stamp he feels he’s owed with help from his fiancée, while Gloria begins piecing things together with the aid of St. Cloud police officer Winnie Lopez. Here’s the official synopsis for next week’s episode:

More from Fargo

"“Nikki and Ray’s retaliation has consequences for Emmit. Meanwhile, Gloria and Winnie start connecting the dots.”"

According to the episode preview, Nikki and Ray’s latest attempt to get back at Emmit involves having the now-former parole officer impersonate his brother in a “nondescript” sex tape. The couple then send him a blackmail letter demanding $100,000 or else they show the video to his wife, who ends up discovering both items.

The letter looks like the one sent to Stavros Milos (Oliver Platt) in season one by personal trainer Don Chumph (Glenn Howerton), who later met his demise thanks to Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thorton).

Meanwhile, Gloria informs her partner Donny that she knows that Maurice was hired by Ray to rob his brother thanks to some help from Winnie. Also, the feud between the Stussys continues as a carless Ray screams into his phone on a bus while talking to Emmit, demanding that he pay him the money. “You’re dead, you hear me?!” replies the “Parking Lot King of Minnesota.”

But the businessman has more troubles back at work where his right hand man Sy is having to deal with Varga after his henchman, Meemo and Yuri Gurka, saw him talking to the police. It could prove to be the second consequence of his retaliatory action against Ray where he crashed into his Corvette only to unwittingly hit a parked car belonging to a waitress who’s now pressing charges over the damages, prompting Winnie’s visit to his office that raised suspicions with Varga’s men.
