ABC Debuts The Official Trailer For Marvel’s Inhumans

The trailer for Marvel’s Inhumans is finally here!

After radio silence from ABC on the series since the teaser drop in May, a full-length trailer for Marvel’s Inhumans debuted this morning. While the series has been met with apathy from devoted comic book fans, the network is confident that their new superhero show will be a big hit.

With such lofty expectations on its shoulders, will the new Inhumans trailer be enough to win back potential viewers? Check it out:

The trailer offers viewers their first look at characters in action after the disappointment of the first Inhumans cast photo. Anson Mount plays Black Bolt, the fearsome leader of the Royal Family, who is forced to remain silent because of his destructive but powerful voice.

While he doesn’t utter a single word in the trailer, it is shown how powerful a single grunt from him is when he takes out a police car. His brother Maximus, played by Iwan Rheon, spends the entirety of trailer speaking as he tries to convince the other Inhumans to join his coup against his the leader. Comic book fans know that Maximus is constantly trying to steal the crown from Black Bolt, but here his main desire is getting his race down on Earth.

Both brothers deliver solid but completely different performances. Because of his limited ability to communicate, Mount conveys a lot of his power and empathy through small facial movements. Meanwhile, Rheon is playing a character called, “Maximus the Mad,” and like the name he spends a majority of the Inhumans trailer chewing scenery.

However, the trailer is a complete success with only a short snippets of Crystal, Medusa, and Karnak. The three are favorites among fans and it’s a shame to see that the special effects team was still unable to fix Medusa’s hair.

They can create a fun semi-realistic version of Lockjaw, the giant teleporting dog, but can’t do anything to make her hair have more to do than just hanging there?

ABC may have lost a few fans because of their earlier Inhumans teases but this trailer will at least bring some of them back. It is far from a perfect outing for the expensive series but looks like it will be enjoyable enough for people to give it a chance.
