Lena Dunham joins American Horror Story season 7 cast

Former “Girls” star Lena Dunham will appear in an episode of “American Horror Story” season 7.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy revealed on Wednesday that he has cast his “talented friend” Lena Dunham in the anthology series’ upcoming election-themed season. Deadline has since reported that the undisclosed role will last for one episode. He tweeted:
The announcement sparked an immediate backlash from some of the AHS fan base who blasted the casting of the controversial writer-actress. She seemed to respond to the criticism via Instagram by posting a photo of herself wearing a crystal crown and a latex bodysuit.
Dunham has been a lightning rod for years over her HBO series Girls, her outspoken political views, revelations that she may have molested her sister at a young age, and, more recently, disputes over of the background of her former dog Lamby, which she claims to have given up due to behavioral problems resulting from alleged abuse as a puppy.

However, her detractors may be happy to know that not only will she only appear in one episode of AHS season 7, but given the violent nature of the series, her character may suffer a similar fate to her one-episode role on Scandal. Dunham recently wrapped the sixth and final season of HBO’s Girls, which was well-received by critics, but failed to land any major Emmy nominations.
The rest of the American Horror Story season 7 cast will include Billy Eichner, Colton Haynes, AHS alums Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Cheyenne Jackson and Adina Porter, as well as Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourde, formerly of Murphy’s Popular and Scream Queens, respectively.
The new season will use the 2016 presidential election as a jumping off point, but will not include actors playing either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. So far, Murphy has offered cryptic teases that include images of a creepy elephant (the GOP’s symbol), the back of the head of the blue-haired character played by Peters, and a person swarmed by bees. He’s also hinted at the return of Twisty the Clown from Freak Show. The title for season 7, “Cult,” was revealed at Comic-Con 2017 on Thursday night.
