HBO releases a look-ahead at its 2018 slate of shows and Game of Thrones isn’t included
If you want to know what HBO has planned for 2018, then you’ve come to right place.
HBO has just released a video showing what it has in store for 2018, and yes, as you might expect, Game of Thrones is not part of that slate of shows. This is official confirmation from HBO that Thrones isn’t returning until 2019, much like actress Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) recently revealed.
However, there are some all-new and exciting series coming to the premium network, which includes the highly anticipated return of Westworld for its second season. Check it out:

- New series: Succession that follows a dysfunctional American global-media family. Starring Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong.
- New Series: Here and Now that follows a contemporary multi-racial family. Starring Holly Hunter and Tim Robins.

- New season of Insecure
- New film: Paterno about Penn State Head Football Coach Joe Paterno and the Jerry Sandusky sexual assault case. This film will star Al Pacino as Joe Paterno.
- New season of Vice
- New season of HBO Boxing
- New season of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
- New season of High Maintenance
- New season of Real Time with Bill Maher
- New season of Room 104
- New series: Barry that follows an assassin who wants to be an actor. Starring Bill Hader.

- New documentary: Elvis Presley: The Searcher

- New film: Notes from the Field. According to the announcement from HBO, the film is an “adaptation of Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Anna Deavere Smith’s acclaimed one-woman show dramatizes a vast array of accounts including students, parents, teachers and administrators caught in America’s school-to-prison pipeline as well as activists and their responses to recent high profile police tragedies.”

That sure is an exciting list of films, documentaries, and series coming in 2018! I have to say, while Game of Thrones isn’t included in this list, the inclusion of Westworld season 2 definitely helps to fill that gaping Westeros-sized hole in my heart.
