For fans who missed the first season, or are unfamiliar with the source material, A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on the classic Lemony Snicket book series about three orphans who try to avoid misfortunes caused by Count Olaf.
There are 13 books in the Lemony Snicket series and the first season of A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix dealt with the first four books. The second season on Netflix covers the next five books (#5-9). This means that the orphans meet Duncan and Isadora this season and will also face off with new enemies in Carmelita Spats and Esme Squalor.
The A Series of Unfortunate Events trailer for season two was placed online for fans to find in a scavenger hunt that started with a cryptic tweet.
