Blumhouse bringing horror anthology to Hulu
By Shawn Lealos
Blumhouse is known for their horror output and have become one of the most successful horror film companies putting out films today.
In 2017, they released a Golden Globe-nominated film with Get Out. They also have a lot of financially successful films over the years with Insidious, The Purge, Split and Paranormal Activity. That makes Blumhouse a perfect company to create a horror anthology show for Hulu.
That is what is happening this year. Variety reported that Hulu greenlit a horror anthology series created by Blumhouse Productions.

There have already been a lot of horror anthologies hitting television, and they have been successful. American Horror Story has remained successful, despite ups and downs in its season-long stories. However, Hulu is doing this in a very different way.
The way that Hulu and Blumhouse Productions are setting up their new horror anthology series is more along the lines of Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt but on a higher level. Blumhouse will create 12 “self-contained stories” connected with a narrative or structural device. They will then air the episodes, one a month for a full year.
This new series sounds similar to Black Mirror, but while Netflix releases a batch of shows at once, Hulu will keep it coming every month for a full year.
"“I would say this falls squarely into the horror bucket, said Hulu CCO Joel Stillerman. “And it’s brought to us by, I would say in many ways that would be hard to argue, the consummate producers in that genre today.”"

There is no one lined up to write or direct these episodes. However, the first episode is scheduled to air in October 2018, which means that it will start this Halloween and end right before Halloween 2019.
