Hulu has quite a few shows debuting in March, namely their new pre-apocalyptic drama Hard Sun.

From the man who created the hit series Luther, Neil Cross appears to have another success with his latest crime show. Set in modern-day London, the story follows two police officers with completely opposite personalities, as they balance crime-solving and evading MI5. The new trailer for the series promises a lot of suspense as well as a lot of tension between the partners as they try to figure out who to trust.

Based on the trailer, the whole series is going to involve what the two detectives choose to do with the information they obtain regarding the event which will end the world.

Chased by government agents, Charlie Hicks (Jim Sturgess) is going to be more vulnerable to manipulation if it means saving himself. This falls in line with the description given when he was cast — Hicks is regarded as a people-pleaser, but a dirty cop. Elaine Renko (Agyness Deyn) is his polar opposite — a traumatized woman who upholds justice no matter what but is generally disliked by her fellow peers.

While they start out on different sides, the Hard Sun trailer also has Hicks teaming up with Renko to protect both of their loved ones. Considering Neil Cross’ other show Luther has a police officer that is a hero with questionable actions, it’s safe to say that these two will begin to do the same. Both appear ready to go to extreme and violent measures to do what they think is right, and it will certainly take a toll on their attitudes throughout the season.

On top of being chased down by secret agent, Grace Morrigan (Nikki Amuka-Bird), the two detectives will be expected to solve a murder. While the initial teaser sends them on a case involving a dead hacker (presumably the one who gets his hands on the apocalypse information), it looks like the murder is going to be more than an open and shut case.

A creepy man confesses at a church about “hurting people” and another is seen chasing a woman down the hall while brandishing a machete. It’s more than likely that it’s the character, Thom Blackwood (Richard Coyle), who is supposed be a psychopath who is testing God and has a weird sixth sense of an impending apocalypse. Needless to say, he’s going to be a thorn in everyone’s side throughout the first season of Hard Sun.

Hard Sun might be a crime drama, but based off of the trailer it looks like it will end up being more of a psychological thriller. Should the detectives warn the rest of the world of their impending doom or allow people to live in blissful ignorance?

Ultimately, it doesn’t look like anyone is going to have an easy time figuring out what the right thing to do is when the show debuts on March 8 on Hulu.
