M. Night Shyamalan creating new TV show for Apple
By Shawn Lealos
Much like the best horror characters, M. Night Shyamalan has risen from the dead thanks to incredible success with his last two films.
Years after he became a huge sensation thanks to Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, M. Night Shyamalan fell hard thanks to a number of critical bombs, with the most significant disaster being the movie adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, things have started to improve.
Shyamalan made the impressive found footage horror movie The Visit that had its tongue planted firmly in its cheek and made producers Blumhouse so happy that they signed on to let him make the horror thriller Split.

Of course, Split ended up being the sequel to Unbreakable, although that reveal did not come until the end of the movie. With Unbreakable being Shyamalan’s most popular hit and Split critically lauded, the director is now finishing the trilogy with the movie Glass.
It looks like his success is bringing Shyamalan more opportunities as well. Variety reports that Apple has a new streaming service coming and they are signing some big names to original projects for it. One of those names is M. Night Shyamalan.
The Shyamalan series will be in the thriller genre with 10 episodes checking in at a half hour each. There is no word on the plot yet, but Blumhouse is along for the ride as executive producers.
M. Night Shyamalan also produced Wayward Pines for Fox back in the day, so this isn’t his first time on the small screen.
M. Night Shyamalan is one of many big names joining the Apple streaming service. Steven Spielberg is part of the Amazing Stories reboot. That also had Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller at the helm, but he has since left the project. The writers of The Big Sick, the director of La La Land are also coming to Apple.
