9-1-1 Recap: ‘Full Moon (Creepy AF)’

9-1-1 channels its superstitious side with a full moon.

9-1-1 continues to present crazy, intense stories with every week that passes by — this one is no exception. With a full moon upon them, everyone prepares for a very intense night. While Buck shares his firm belief in the crazy events that a full moon causes, everyone else remains skeptical. That is until the night officially begins.

This episode gave 9-1-1 some of its craziest moments to date –and is one hell of a ride. It also gave Abby her shining moment as a 911 operator as she pieces together the mystery behind multiple home invasions. While the series has given its other female characters their moment to be badass and stand out, Abby finally got hers — and we are thankful.

The episode begins with Buck getting a little girl out of an arcade claw machine. This pales in comparison to the crazy night that lies ahead. He calls Abby (so cute!) to talk about the full moon, but she isn’t convinced that it is any different from any another day. Abby’s night starts off with a call from a woman named Nora who says a man is outside staring at her.

Athena, Hen, and Chimney head to the house to investigate only to find that not only was there an intruder, but he was actually inside the house standing behind Nora when she made the 911 call. Footprints confirm this incident, which causes Athena to ask Nora to stay somewhere else for the night — Nora decides to go to her daughter’s.

Another call pulls the crew away to a park on the other side of town. And just when we thought we had our fill of crazy moments for the night, an insanely drunk man is seen eating a man’s face. Was he on bath salts? Nope! Just a case of extreme intoxication that apparently results in turning into a zombie. After tasing him, the man is still not apprehended which results in Athena shooting him dead. This incident puts her back on desk duty until she is cleared to return.

Buck and Bobby are called to a yoga class where they find a pregnant woman stuck in a yoga pose due to a spinal disc herniation. While taking care of her, three women in the class go into labor at the same exact time. Now, who doesn’t believe in the full moon, right?

Successfully delivering two babies and sending the third off for C-section, Buck and Bobby head off to their grossest case for the night, a man that is in excruciating abdominal pain. As they whisk him away in the ambulance, we learn the cause of the pain is 7-foot tapeworm that has been living inside of him. YUCK. Watching Buck pull the tapeworm out of the man’s butt was extremely horrifying and vomit-inducing.

Meanwhile, Abby’s night starts to become a mysterious puzzle that only she understands. She receives another call about a home invasion in which she hears the lady on the phone being murdered. The authorities believe the killer to be the woman’s ex-husband but Abby is not convinced. After some detective work, she learns there is a connection between the elderly woman, Nora, who called earlier and the lady who died on the phone.

She learns that Nora’s daughter knew the victim from the phone because they were both a part of a domestic violence support group. And the intruder had gone to Nora’s home in an attempt to find her daughter to exact revenge. When he didn’t find her there, he ends up outside her home. This intruder turns out to be Nora’s daughter’s ex-husband who is dead set on murdering everyone involved, hence why he killed the previous victim. Unfortunately for him, before he can cause any real damage, the daughter tricks and murders him with a baseball bat.

In the midst of all the crazy and insane that took place during this awesome episode, Buck and Abby got a second to wind down and finally have a night of passion. However while they spent the night hooking up, Hen made a grave mistake with hers. After receiving a call from her ex who was recently released from prison, she finds herself in her apartment and proceeds to sleep with her. This is a very emotional moment as we, along with Hen realize she has just cheated on her beloved wife, who is already concerned with their sex life. This won’t end well, will it?

9-1-1 airs on Fox on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. CST.
