“I’m shooting the last season of Thrones. Generally speaking, I’m not crazy-hairy, but I have a full beard. Call me Hairy Styles,” he joked.
When we last saw the King Slayer, he decided to ditch his sister and baby mama, Cersei, after she threatened to kill him for wanting to join the folks in the north to fight the white walkers. As snow begins to fall outside of King’s Landing, we see a hint of scruff on his face as he begins his journey.
At the start of the series, Jaime sported long flowy locks but opted for a shorter ‘do after coming out of captivity in season 4. His new beard is his biggest makeover since then.
Coster-Waldau said, “There was a big change in the character, so a haircut is a way to signal that.” So, we can only assume that this change in facial hair signals his major loyalty shift as he breaks free from his sister.
Jaime Lannister’s character has come a long way since the first episode. From pushing a child out of a window to releasing his brother from the Game of Thrones version of death row, he has gone from despised to adored.
