The case for making Fire & Blood the new Game of Thrones spinoff

As Game of Thrones’ expiration date grows closer, a new manuscript from George R. R. Martin has people talking spinoff ideas.

We all know that we aren’t getting The Winds of Winter from Game of Thrones writer, George R. R. Martin, this year. However, we are getting a history of the Targaryen family called Fire & Blood on November 20, 2018.

Now, the question is: Will Fire & Blood be developed into a spinoff?

More from Game of Thrones

Last year, we reported that HBO is currently developing a spinoff after season 8 of the hit series ends. They hired several writers, including Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Brian Helgeland (Legend), and Carly Wray (Mad Men).

Goldman and Wray are reportedly working with Martin apart from the rest of the writers.

If Fire & Blood is the basis for the Game of Thrones spinoff, we could be in for something pretty spectacular.

According to CinemaBlend, Fire & Blood isn’t a novel. The thousand-page manuscript is the “monumental history of the Targaryen kings of Westeros.” But the book is “written” by Archmaester Gyldayn (a.k.a Martin).

This means the new book will cover everyone from Aegon the Conqueror to Aegon III. But the most exciting part is that because this all takes place before A Song of Ice and Fire begins, we get to read about lots and lots of dragons.

How could this not be an amazing new series to fill the void of Game of Thrones ending? Maybe each king can have his own season – or at least the interesting ones. And the final season of the spinoff could end with King Robert’s Rebellion.

What do you think? Could this be the Game of Thrones spinoff Thronies are dreaming of?
