If there is a season three of the hit Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why, it will most likely be without Katherine Langford, according to Deadline.

During the season two finale, Hannah Baker’s family holds a memorial service for her at a local church. Clay Jensen, played by Dylan Minnette, gives a heartfelt eulogy in which he announces that he loves Hannah but has to let her go.

More from 13 Reasons Why

Ghost Hannah, who only Clay could see throughout the entire season, gets up from the back of the church and walks out. We can assume Hannah is finally at peace and she crosses through to the afterlife.

When I watched that scene, I took that as Hannah could now rest. I thought bringing Hannah’s character back this way was a creative considering Hannah died in season one.

But ghost Hannah can’t stick around forever.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Langford said,

"“For me, we told Hannah’s story so fully in Season 1. In a way, doing that scene in episode 13, I’ve so often referred to it as it was the hardest scene because it’s the scene where I had to let her go. I think coming back this season was challenging because it was playing her but not really her.”"

Langford also said that Hannah let herself go in season one. But season two was for Clay to let her go.

I know there are mixed feelings about ghost Hannah this season. But Langford is such a brilliant young actress; I enjoyed seeing her on the show again. Her and Minnette have such chemistry on the screen, and I would love to see them in something else together, maybe a little more light-hearted.
