Say goodbye to Jon Snow’s flowy locks – Kit Harington is chopping it all off now that Game of Thrones is finished filming.

Yesterday, we reported how Emilia Clarke is saying goodbye to Game of Thrones. Today, the show’s other megastar, Kit Harington, has something a little different in mind when the show ends.

Harington told EW,

"“I’d like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go do and some other things with a completely new look and tone. Short-short. The beard will be harder to get rid of — I quite like the beard. I like having the long hair and beard both, but it will be like ritualistic thing. I can’t go into my next role looking the same. This role was brilliant, but I’ll need to get rid of Jon Snow.”"

But his hair is so beautiful. How can he just chop it off as if it never existed? This is just too much change for me.

If you remember back when Jon Snow’s own men turned on him, stab him, and leave him for dead at the end of Season five, Harington’s hair caused a major stir. Even the Song of Ice and Fire readers didn’t know if Jon Snow survived because it was the last book of the series at the time (and still is).

For months, fans speculated whether or not Jon Snow was still alive or not and watched his every move, including his iconic hair. They figured if they spotted him anywhere in Ireland with his long locks, he probably survived.

So, the fact that Harington is parting with his curly, black hair just hits me hard.

It won’t be long now before the final six episodes air, and then we say goodbye to these particular characters for good. Of course, there are prequel spinoffs in the works and us Thronies should be happy with that. And I am. But there’s nothing like your first.

I guess once Kit visits the barber, it means the show really is over. It will be an end of an era.

I am, however, excited to see what our beloved Jon Snow does next. He’s currently recording voice work for How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World. He just can’t stay away from dragons! And he’ll be playing the role of husband any day now. (He’s marrying Rose Leslie, A.K.A Ygritte!)

Will he or won’t he make a move before his wedding? Let Jon Snow: Hair Watch 2018 commence.
