The original series ran from 2008 to 2013 for six seasons and even won multiple Emmy awards. Its return is largely in part to a campaign and a letter written to Disney and Lucasfilm to bring the series back. Well, your wish is their command and fans are rejoicing!
The original supervising director, Dave Filoni, will return to lead the series once again.
"“I honestly didn’t think we would ever have the opportunity to return to The Clone Wars. Thanks to the relentless fan support and the team behind Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, we will now get to tell more of those stories. We feel a tremendous responsibility to make something that lives up to the legacy that George Lucas created with the original series, and I think our team, many of whom worked on the show from the beginning, has risen to the challenge.”"
Star Wars: The Clone Wars will pick up where it left off when it returns on Disney’s streaming service, which is set to launch in late 2019. The timeline of the series will still involve events that take place after Attack of the Clones and lead up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Characters returning to the series include Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Captain Rex, and popular fan favorite, Ahsoka Tan. When the original series ended, there were a lot of loose ends so when it returns, fans can expect to get closure or learn more about where these storylines are headed or ending.
Along with Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Disney SVOD will launch other Star Wars spinoffs so fans can continue to bask in the world they love and adore so much.
