Daredevil fans won’t have to wait much longer to see this season on Netflix.

While many viewers feared Daredevil season three wouldn’t hit Netflix until sometime next year, the streaming service had some good news. In a Q2 Earnings video, Netflix CEO Ted Sarando confirmed the third season would be dropping sometime this year.

"“In the short term, we’ve got new seasons coming up, in the second half of this year, of Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, the follow-up series to Making a Murderer.”"

The news might come as a shock because many fans expected to wait another year before seeing Daredevil return.

Luckily at the TCA’s, the Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland was able to comment on why some of the Marvel series has suffered from long hiatuses.

"“The biggest issue was the timing of production and launching of The Defenders because what that meant is we had to shut down all of the shows, so all the actors be available for The Defenders so it’s more function of that. There is no problem with this season, I think it’s fantastic, it’s real return to form in my view.”"

This upcoming season of Daredevil is expected to adapt one of the most infamous comic book arcs in history, “Born Again”. With the confirmed return of Kingpin and the rumored rise of Bullseye, fans have been desperate to get a glimpse of season three.

Considering Matt is currently “dead” in this universe, it made sense that Iron Fist would get a premiere date first. However, it looks like Danny won’t need to protect Hell’s Kitchen for very long.

Since Iron Fist is dropping on September 7, it doesn’t leave a very big gap for Daredevil to return in 2018. The series will probably get a similar premiere date to The Punisher and debut near the end of November.

With a rumored release date for Frank Castle’s show currently late winter, around February, one has to wonder if Marvel is speeding up these release dates for a reason.

Nevertheless, it’s exciting to know fans won’t have to wait two or more years to see new seasons of the Marvel shows.
