The Walking Dead fans should prepare themselves for an explosive season 9–according to producer Gale Ann Hurd.

The Walking Dead season 9 will be a tough one to get through considering it is Andrew Lincoln’s last, but producer Gale Ann Hurd promises that each episode will have a shocker and be filled with “oh sh*t moments”. At San Diego Comic-Con this year, she said so far every episode so far was like that so we can only begin to imagine what’s in store for the ninth season.

More from The Walking Dead

According to Lincoln and the rest of the cast, season 9 of The Walking Dead has serious season 1 vibes, which is basically the moment most fans fell in love with the show.

According to Hurd, “People remember fantastic moments from our entire first season, so I think they’ll be feeling the same love and enthusiasm and anger, but lots of passion this season.”

In fact, Lincoln went as far as to say that the season 9 premiere is very reminiscent of the pilot and has surprises that they, of course, can’t reveal to fans just yet.

New showrunner Angela Kang has brought a new energy to the set this season according to Lincoln and has brought the show to a point he always envisioned it would from when he first started this journey.

Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are in agreement over the direction Kang has taken the next season and said she has been “killing it”.

While every year is supposedly the best season yet, Reedus said this year it truly is. And we sure hope so considering it’s the last season Lincoln will be on The Walking Dead.
