Chris Ashworth and Lyndon Smith both land recurring roles on series next season of Bosch.

Chris Ashworth (The Wire) landed a recurring role for season five of Amazon’s Bosch. The series is based on the novels by Michael Connelly and was developed for Amazon by The Wire’s Eric Overmyer. It stars Titus Welliver as the title character, alongside Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Madison Lintz, and Lance Reddick. Ashworth will play a character named Vardy, but no details about the character have been revealed.

It was recently announced that Chris Vance had been cast as the leader of an opioid ring for season five, perhaps Ashworth has some involvement with that storyline – or, as the season follows the events of Connolly’s Two Kinds of Truth, perhaps he’s the criminal who accuses Bosch of framing him for murder. Ashworth recently played Miro on Amazon’s Sneaky Pete and guest starred on CBS’s Elementary, but viewers will likely know him best as “The Russian” from HBO’s The Wire.

Lyndon Smith (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) has been cast in Apple’s thriller series Are You Sleeping opposite Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Caplan. Are You Sleeping is written by Nichelle Tramble Spellman and is based on the true crime novel by Kathleen Barber, which examines America’s obsession with true crime podcasts and documentaries and how putting the crimes on the public stage effects the pursuit of justice.

Smith will play a determined first-year law associate who works with Spencer’s character. Smith has recently been seen in a recurring role on the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Showtime’s White Famous, and TruTV’s I’m Sorry. Are You Sleeping is being produced by Chernin Entertainment, Endeavor Content, and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
