Elite: Netflix renews teen murder mystery for a second season
If you’re already missing Las Encinas, you won’t have to much longer. Netflix has renewed its lavish teen thriller Elite for a second season.
Since its global release on October 5, Netflix’s teen murder mystery Elite has captivated viewers, and the streaming giant has noticed. Less than two weeks after its debut, Netflix has renewed the Spanish-language drama for a second season, according to Deadline.
Netflix has yet to announce which actors will return. María Pedraza may be unlikely given that the murder of her character Marina was the first season’s central mystery. However, Katherine Langford’s Hannah Baker led Netflix’s13 Reasons Why for two seasons, so it’s not implausible that Pedraza could return to Elite.
The second season will premiere in 2019. Like season one, it will feature eight episodes, be executive produced by Zeta Audiovisual and be filmed in 4k.

Set in Spain, the students of elite prep school Las Encinas are disgruntled, to say the least, when three teens from local public school San Esteban are admitted following the collapse of San Esteban’s roof. These classmates from different worlds eventually begin to bond, but a mystery looms.
A flash-forward reveals that popular but kind and down-to-earth Marina has been murdered, and everyone is a suspect.
Elite was created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, who also write it. Ramón Salazar and Dani de la Orden directed season one.
In additon to Pedraza, season one starred Itzan Escamilla, Danna Paola, Miguel Bernardeau, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Álvaro Rico, Arón Piper, Mina El Hammani, Ester Expósito and Omar Ayuso.
