Fandom 250: Game of Thrones devoted fans top TV rankings!
Congrats Game of Thrones fans! Season 8 may not be airing until next year, but our Fandom 250 rankings prove that you are the best TV fandom of 2018!
Game of Thrones fans, you know you’re doing everything right when you top FanSided’s Fandom 250’s TV rankings — more than seven years after your beloved series premiered! Ahead of the eight and final seasonThrones‘ fans have placed 1st in the Fandom 250 rankings for TV and 11th in the rankings overall.
For many Thrones‘ fans, of course, your devotion has actually been decades in the making! Before David Benioff and D.B. Weiss made A Song of Ice and Fire an HBO sensation in 2011, George R.R. Martin took the fantasy literature world by storm with his novel series. Beginning with 1996’s A Game of Thrones, the fandom was born; and now, it’s one of the largest, most enthusiastic and most dedicated in the world.
The HBO series may be ending next year with what’s sure to be a bombastic, devastating, gratifying and heart-stopping season. But the fandom — which has made Game of Thrones the most awarded series in Emmys history and the most pirated TV program in history per the Guinness Book of World Records — will undoubtedly live on.

Plus, the HBO finale will only mark the conclusion of one version of A Song of Fire and Ice. Martin hasn’t even finished writing the final two novels of his series, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, which will diverge from the HBO series in some ways.
Fans have been waiting for more since Martin published the fifth book, A Dance with Dragons, way back in 2011. But you’re not about to give up on him now, and that’s why you’re one of the best fandoms out there!
Hopefully, some of your favorite characters will still be alive when the game finally comes to an end and the wheel is finally broken. A lot of your favs will definitely die. But you know that. You’ve stuck with the epic saga this long.
On that cheery note, here’s to counting down the days until Game of Thrones finally returns for season eight. Check out the teaser trailer here or, you know, watch it for the millionth time!
