Y: The Last Man is officially ordered to series by FX with a first look image
Diane Lane’s new series, Y, is officially ordered to series at FX.
Ever since news broke last year that FX was trying to develop a series based on critically beloved comic book, Y: The Last Man, fans have been holding their breath to see if the show would eventually come to fruition. Studios have been attempting to adapt the comic as far back as 2007 with little to no results. However, fans can officially get excited because the television series will be heading to FX sometime next year.
Simply titled Y, the show will be led by Diane Lane (who plays the current incarnation of Martha Kent in the DCEU). She plays Senator Jennifer Brown, the mother of the only remaining man after an apocalypse wipes out the gender. Her son, Yorick, will be played by Barry Keoghan (American Animals, Dunkirk) and Imogen Poots (Roadies, I Kill Giants) has been tapped to play her daughter Hero.

Brian K. Vaughan, who co-wrote and created the comic book with Pia Guerra, will serve as an executive producer on Y. Co-creators and co-showrunners, Aïda Mashaka Croal and Michael Green couldn’t help but share their excitement in a statement to Deadline.
"“Brian and Pia’s exploration of a world without men is a favorite for its depth, its humor, its insights and its monkey. Adapted today it offers us a cracked mirror to look at our own very cracked world. We thank them for their trust — we thank FX for their support — and we thank the casting gods for letting us work with this incredible group of actors.”"
Other executive producers, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson also expressed their happiness over the project moving forward.
"“Y is our favorite comic book series ever and we are thrilled to FINALLY bring it to the screen. We are grateful that Brian entrusted it to us and FX, and can’t wait for the world to see Michael and Aïda’s adaptation.”"
Y is not expected to premiere until sometime in 2020, however, fans can check out 60 issue comic book while they wait.
