Lauren Cohan admits to possible Maggie spinoff for ‘The Walking Dead’

Rick Grimes’s (Andrew Lincoln) exit from The Walking Dead was revealed to not be as permanent as we originally thought and that he would, in fact, be getting spin-off films.

It was only a matter of time before people began to wonder if Lauren Cohan would getting her own spinoff as well for Maggie.

When the question was finally asked of her at the TCA Winter Press Tour earlier this week, she admitted that it was a possibility though it’s still too early to tell.

According to Cohan, “There may have been some conversations but everything is so early days ambiguous.. we’ll have to see what happens.”

More from The Walking Dead

This response is perfectly understandable given that her future with The Walking Dead has still been left very much in the air after leaving to star in ABC’s upcoming dramedy series Whiskey Cavalier.

Cohan’s character Maggie Greene was last seen in this season’s fifth episode opting not to kill Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the man who murdered her husband. She left him to suffer in his jail cell and then left for a new community during the time jump that took place in the following episode.

Whether Cohan makes a return of any kind to The Walking Dead will likely on whether Whiskey Cavalier winds up being successful, which can be tough to tell for midseason shows such as this one.

On the plus side, despite earlier (and apparently inaccurate) reports that Cohan opted to leave the show after a drawn-out contract negotiation, both sides Cohan and AMC have stressed that things are still on good terms.
