Downton Abbey gets a visit from The Royal Family in the official trailer for the Movie
The Downton Abbey movie finally gets a full-length trailer.
The Royals are coming to Downton! I repeat, The Royals are coming to Downton!
Yes, that’s right, Focus Features released the first full trailer for Downton Abbey, the long-awaited movie spin-off of the ITV smash series where we see our favorites from the Crawley family preparing for a visit from The Royal Family themselves.
Not a lot has been released as far as the story is concerned but the trailer does reveal that it takes place in 1927, a couple of years later from when the TV Show left off and heavily centers around the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Downton Abbey (who is playing them is yet to be known).

The Crawley family and their army of servants are preparing for this unexpected visit supervised by Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) who winds up asking for help from an old friend, the retired head butler, Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) himself (God! This trailer gave me so many feels).
We also see Thomas (Rob James Collier) kissing a man, so fingers crossed for his happy ending, well, fingers crossed for everybody’s happy ending.
We also saw a friendly banter between Maggie Smith’s Violet and Penelope Wilton’s Isobel, those two were always a joy to watch and Maggie Smith herself is just a tour de force.
Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Laura Carmichael, Brendan Coyle, Lesley Nicol, Tom Cullen, Rob James Collier, Kevin Doyle, Phyllis Logan, Sophie McShera and Joanne Froggatt are all returning to reprise their roles from the series.
Over its 6 seasons which took place between 1912 and 1926 and ended in 2016. The series took home 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards and 69 Emmy nominations in total, which made Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys, even earning a Special BAFTA award for it and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.
