Dead to Me renewed by Netflix for season 2
Jen and Judy are coming back and they have a whole new murder to deal with in season 2 of Dead to Me!
According to Variety and Deadline and, well, everyone, Netflix has announced that Netflix’s dark comedy hit Dead to Me has been given a second season. Honestly, it was just a matter of time.
Netflix is always secretive about what viewership numbers actually are for their shows, so there’s a bit of breath holding any time a good show isn’t immediately announced to have a second season. Thankfully it only took a month after its premiere for Netflix to realize that they have a really good show on their hands.
It also helps that Dead to Me was listed as Netflix’s number one show in the UK, according to a report from Deadline.

Anyway, numbers aside, Dead to Me had a killer first season (pun most definitely intended) that ended with Jen and Judy (Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, respectively) coming back together after their tumultuous friendship seemed to end. People are dead, Jen and Judy are friends, and season two may see the two of them on the run from the cops!
Applegate and Cardellini will both return to the show (of course) as will show runner and series creator Liz Feldman.
Feldman, in a recent interview with UPROXX, revealed that season one initially had a different ending. She wouldn’t say what it was because there’s a possibility that the show may still revisit it in the future. Considering the show seemed to be heading for a dark, painful ending before the two estranged friends were brought back together, I (for one) would love to see what Feldman had planned.
As of now, no date has been announced for season 2. Again, season 1 dropped a month ago, we can be patient. Especially since season 1 garnered widespread praise, boasting an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The dark comedy about loss and friendship will return its core producers, including executive producers Feldman and Applegate and Gloria Sanchez Productions’ Jessica Elbaum, Gary Sanchez Productions’ Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, CBS Television Studios and Christie Smith.
