Get ready for more Connor Hawke action as Joseph David-Jones has been announced as a series regular for the eighth and final season of Arrow.

Deadline reports that actor Joseph David-Jones, who plays Connor Hawke/Future Green Arrow, will appear as a series regular for the final season of The CW’s Arrow. David-Jones first debuted as the vigilante on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and has since captured the imaginations of fans especially after he re-appeared in the 2040 timeline of Arrow season seven.

Connor Hawke is the adoptive son of David Ramsay’s John Diggle and the more heroic of the two sons. In season seven, Connor mentions that John Diggle Jr. (or JJ) is a crime lord, and a ruthless one at that. Could we see older JJ in the series finale fighting against Connor?

Connor adopted the Green Arrow moniker to keep his city safe, but he also works with the Knightwatch during the day as a cover for his nocturnal activities. Connor has a murky history with the show’s possible season 8 lead Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara) and several hints were made to some romantic tension between the two.

At the conclusion of the previous season, the current Team Arrow had dissolved to a mere four members while Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was called away by the Monitor to fulfil his end of their bargain. In the future timeline, the older Team Arrow took the fall for the next generation, and Felicity Smoak left her children to rejoin Oliver, thereby concluding Emily Bett Rickards’ time on the show.

Speculation has been rife that the next generation of Team Arrow will be leading season 8, and news of Joseph David-Jones’ promotion certainly adds fuel to the fire. It’s possible, then, that Ben Lewis (adult William Clayton), Andrea Sixtos (adult Zoe Ramirez) and McNamara, will probably follow suit and be added as regulars.

So far, only Bett Rickards has said that she won’t be returning to the Arrowverse, but given the state of the team in the season seven finale, perhaps the showrunners intend to move the entire storyline to the future. The crux of this year’s Arrowverse shows will be the mega crossover event, “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” Will future Team Arrow be involved in the crossover, or are they a direct result of the Crisis?

Arrow will return to The CW for its eighth and final season this fall.
