Restaurants are a dime-a-dozen in New York City, but the distinguished spot that employees Tess and her pals are serving more than just the best wine in the Sweetbitter season 2 trailer.
With Sweetbitter poised to return on July 14 for a second helping, Starz released an official trailer.
Now that the show’s star, Tess (Ella Purnell), is a permanent waitress at the elegant New York City restaurant she had been training at since her move from Ohio, she’s finding her place in the city, at work, and in life.
Tess seems to have cemented a place in her work family and bonded even more so with the closed-off and sometime-snooty Simone (Caitlin FitzGerald). But she also seems to be getting closer to the brooding Jake (Tom Sturridge), who she tested the waters with physically last season.

Howard (Paul Sparks) appears to stray away from his usual calm and collected nature by losing his cool at someone. We also may dive a little deeper into his back story. And at one point, Tess asks Sasha (Daniyar) if he’s O.K., to which he shrugs her off a bit. As you remember, last season, Sasha nearly killed himself after a drug- and alcohol-induced night of partying and introspection left him depressed and hopeless.
Sasha is my favorite character on the show, so, I hope he stays right where he is.
Sweetbitter also stars Evan Jonigkeit (Will), Jimmie Saito (Scott), Eden Epstein (Ari), and Jasmine Mathews (Heather).
Sit back, with your favorite glass (or bottle) of wine and watch the Season 2 premiere of Sweetbitter when it airs on Starz on July 14 at 9 p.m. There’s still time to catch up on season 1.
