Kim Dickens to star in USA’s anthology series Briarpatch
Fear the Walking Dead and Deadwood alum Kim Dickens is joining the cast of USA Network’s upcoming crime anthology Briarpatch as a series regular.
Kim Dickens (Fear the Walking Dead‘s Madison Clark) will appear in Briarpatch opposite Rosario Dawson, who stars a Allegra “Pick” Dill, an investigator who works for a senator in Washington D.C., according to Deadline. When her sister, who is 10 years her junior and a homicide detective, dies in a car-bombing, Allegra returns to her corrupt hometown in Texas. Allegra’s search for her sister’s killer dredges up the past Allegra was trying to escape.
Dickens will play Eve Raytek, the Texas town’s Chief of Police. She’s tenacious, no-nonsense, and knows how to get things done in an all-male setting. Most importantly, she’s committed to finding the person who killed Allegra’s sister.
Dickens joins a confirmed cast that includes Jay R. Ferguson (Mad Men), Brian Geraghty (Chicago P.D.), and Edi Gathegi (StartUp) in addition to Dawson.

Briarpatch is based on the novel of the same name by Ross Thomas. The series will be executive produced by Sam Esmail, Chad Hamilton, and Andy Greenwald, who will also write the series.
The show will begin filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico this month.
While she isn’t a household name, Dickens has long been a reliable presence in anything she’s appeared in. She most recently reprised her role in the Deadwood movie as Joanie Stubbs. She also had noteworthy roles as Madison Clark in Fear the Walking Dead, Kate Baldwin in House of Cards, Colette Jane in Sons of Anarchy, and Janette Desautel in Treme.
It’s also exciting that Dickens will be depicting the Chief of Police. The presence of both Dickens and Dawson points to Briarpatch including a compelling set of female characters.
