SDCC 2019: All the DC Universe news to get excited about
By Monita Mohan
At SDCC 2019, DC Universe made several announcements about their streaming platform properties, including Titans, Doom Patrol and Young Justice.
San Diego Comic Con is the biggest geek event of every year and there were many major announcements made at the 2019 event. Among the movie and comic book news, DC Universe gave fans some much-needed updates about their current slate of shows.
Titans season two has been hotly anticipated since the first season ended last December. Viewers were left wondering about the fate of Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth following the arrival of Trigon, especially after the demon had seemingly ‘turned’ Dick evil.
Well, the wait won’t be for much longer. According to a report from AV Club, DC Universe will be airing the new season of Titans starting Sept. 6. This is a much earlier premiere date than most expected but we aren’t complaining.

Alongside Titans, two other DC Universe shows will be returning for new seasons as well. It was finally announced that the critically acclaimed and universally beloved Doom Patrol has been renewed for a second season.
Earlier this year, showrunner Jeremy Carver had hinted that he had already set in motion plans for a return with the possibility of numerous comic book characters joining the cast. Looks like those plans are set to come to fruition.
Doom Patrol will air simultaneously on DC Universe and HBO Max; the latter looks set to become the new home of DC’s television properties as the CW’s Arrowverse shows are reportedly also moving there soon.
Finally, after much conjecture and online demands, Young Justice has also been renewed for another season. The popular animated show was given a new lease on life at DC Universe and it looks like the platform is not giving up on the show’s revival yet. The third season, Young Justice: Outsiders, is currently ongoing and you can catch all the recaps here at Show Snob.
Following rumours that DC Universe was going to be shut down in favour of Warner Bros.’ dedicated streaming service, these SDCC announcements should put all that speculation to rest for good. For now, with the exception of Swamp Thing, which will only air one season, the rest of DC Universe’s properties are going full speed ahead.
