Here are all the details available on the marvelous British Netflix series The Crown, as we anticipate the return. Including its release date.

Netflix‘s wonderfully detailed and exquisitely executed monarchy drama The Crown returns to our screens soon. In keeping with the expertly produced drama’s keen desire for authenticity, the show has updated its cast.

With Claire Foy and Matt Smith being replaced – or more accurately, updated – elders Olivia Coleman and Tobias Menzies as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, respectively, join. Yes, the Windsors are now moving into another period of history.

Adding an Oscar winner, Coleman, in place of an Emmy winner, Foy, in The Crown is a particularly exciting development. Of course it was another historical endeavour, The Favourite, which garnered the former Peep Show actress her prestigious award.

Now the most recognizable global family is Coleman’s subject – excuse any puns – and it will be fascinating to discover her portrayal of the current Queen. Previously, the Royal couple were depicted in their 30s, now we apparently transition to 50-year-olds.

Release date confirmed

Thankfully we haven’t got long to wait for the next installment of this multiple Emmy winning show’s return to Netflix. That is partly thanks to Tobias Menzies ‘accidentally’ revealing season three’s air date this week.

"Tobias Menzies, who has replaced Matt Smith as Prince Phillip, was speaking on Jo Good’s BBC radio show when he let slip when fans can expect new episodes.“We shot season three and that starts in November,” he told the radio host.Via: Independent"

Furthermore the publication states that the ‘new Philip’ liaised with Smith over the role, which is encouraging for a suitable cascade which enables a flow.

Era of reign

Season four is also commissioned, so there’s also that to look forward to. We understand the program will eventually arrive at contemporary times. The Crown will also maintain its opulently accurate set designs.

According to Independent, since the first two seasons covered Queen Elizabeth II from 1947 to 1963, the next two seasons will go from 1964 to the late 1970s.
