Four Weddings and a Funeral is about to hit the small screen this week and the creators and stars of the limited series appeared at this year’s TCA.

The Hulu limited series Four Weddings and a Funeral hasn’t even debuted yet. But the show’s creators are already talking about the possibility of a second season.

Watch the trailer.

Showrunner Tracey Wigfield told the audience at TCA that even though the 10-episode show was written as a complete series. But they could be persuaded if the audience wants more.

The show’s co-creators Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton joined Wigfield on stage, as well as the stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Nikesh Patel, and Brandon Mychal Smith.

Though Kaling was nervous about adapting such a beloved British romantic comedy, she thought it was important that she put forth a love story “that is representative of her world and the friends around her,” according to Deadline. Unlike the British Charles and American Carrie in the 1994 film, played by Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell, the two leads and love interests in the series is played by a black woman and a Pakistani man. In addition, Kaling and Wigfield feel that they were able to cast a diverse group of actors, as well as writers.

Kaling said,

"“I had never seen a movie where a British Pakistani man and an African-American man are best friends at work…in finance,” said Kaling. ‘The characters do not seem to have these racial boundaries — it’s really refreshing.”"

The show will be more like an adaption than a reboot. While MacDowell will make an appearance on the series, she will not be reprising her role as Carrie. I would have love to know how her and Charles were doing 20+ years later.

Four Weddings and a Funeral premieres on Hulu July 31.
