Good Omens might not be finished yet!

At the TCA’s last weekend, Amazon revealed the streaming service is interested in continuing Good Omens. The miniseries garnered a lot of attention and seems to have been a major hit for the streaming service. With an incredible cast, the news made fans extremely excited at the prospect of spending more time with Aziraphale and Crowley.

The show is based on the popular novel, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, which was co-written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Unfortunately, Pratchett passed away in 2015 and wasn’t able to see the story come to life on screen but Gaiman was heavily involved in the process.

Gaiman has become one of the most heavily sought after authors when it comes to TV and movie adaptations recently. However, he’s been pretty adamant that Good Omens would be just one season. The six episodes available cover the entire book and since he co-wrote the novel it doesn’t seem like he’d be interested in doing the story alone. Fans of both authors have consistently mentioned how Gaiman’s and Pratchett’s distinct voices are how the novel became a success.

Nevertheless, Amazon is holding out hope that Gaiman could change his mind in the future. Vernon Sanders, the co-head of Amazon TV, spoke about the possibility of a follow-up at the TCA’s.

"“We’re lucky to have an ongoing relationship with Neil. We’re so excited about how Season 1 has done for us. The notion has come up about whether we can revisit that world. It’s in Neil’s hands now but we’d love to do it. We’re finding that it just takes a little time, perhaps, in the case of Neil. But whatever he wants to do, we’re interested in.”"

Good Omens stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as an angel and demon tasked with stopping the end of the world. The supporting cast includes a myriad of big-name actors including Jon Hamm, Frances McDormand, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anna Maxwell Martin, Adria Arjona, Jack Whitehall, Mireille Enos, and many more.

All six episodes have been the subject of intense criticism from some member of religious groups and have even tried to get the show taken down. The movement accidentally targeted the wrong streaming service and seemed to only boost the interest in the miniseries. Luckily, Gaiman has taken the “outrage” with a smile and reminded people who are offended by his story to simply not watch.
