Donald Glover’s Atlanta is here to stay with an early season 4 renewal!

Atlanta is not going anywhere, folks! Even though production on season 3 has not yet begun, FX has gone ahead and renewed the series for season 4 (and why wouldn’t they?!), according to Deadline. Since it first premiered, Atlanta has stolen the hearts of Childish Gambino fans across the world. We were dying to see our boy on the small-screen in something outside of music, and we got it!

Thanks to the TCA summer press tour, we have been getting all kinds of information regarding our favorite shows with the latest being the Atlanta season 4 renewal. Production on both seasons 3 and 4 (eight episodes each) will begin sometime next spring (Donald Glover is a busy, busy man, folks), so let’s just go ahead and assume that the series won’t return until 2021, or maybe late 2020.

In the two seasons that have aired so far, the series has snagged a total of five Emmys, two Golden Globes amongst a list of many other awards. This comes as absolutely no surprise to me given how amazing the show is. It’s funny, it’s clever, and it highlights a world that many do not know much about. Plus, it has Donald Glover in it, so it’s a win-win situation.

More from Show Snob

During the TCA summer press tour, Eric Schrier, the President of FX Entertainment, shared his enthusiasm about the upcoming third and fourth seasons, and I certainly mirror his sentiments.

"What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul, Dianne, Stephen, and Hiro have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television. This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners."

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

There is no confirmed premiere date for seasons 3 or 4, but given that production doesn’t start until 2020, we can assume we have a long wait ahead of us before the series returns to FX. But that’s okay, the wait is always worth it when it comes to Atlanta, and I’m certain that when it returns, we’ll be brought right back into the world that Glover and his team have created and one that we love so much.
