Netflix release more footage of Top Boy before season three premiere
Over the weekend Netflix released some new video footage and stills from the upcoming Top Boy revival. Season three will premiere in the Autumn.
The phrase Top Boy has several meanings in England: a football hooligan ‘firm’s’ toughest person, which is also the leader by default. A preeminent member of any other criminal gang is another. Then there’s the private school connotation, such as Head Boy; a prefect.
So the second explanation certainly fits the bill for Netflix’s Top Boy. A show which brought a level of sophistication to its street drama, such as HBO’s The Wire depicting Baltimore in America. Of course Channel 4 somewhat naively canceled this intelligent, authentic program.
Though Aubrey “Drake” Graham saved the show and initiated the reincarnation on Netflix – a perfect medium to showcase the multi-talents of this realistically put together drug drama.

This season’s caption seems to be “Everyone wants to be a Top Boy here”; therefore expect fireworks. DuShane is thought to be intent on reclaiming his illicit business in Summer House! Will it still be the Albanians running the show, or British gangsters?
Acting, scriptwriting and a cutting edge entertainment value have all been associated with the series which spanned two seasons on British television. Beginning in 2011, Top Boy was nominated for many UK awards and won a few.
Cast
Top Boy made a star of the already popular Ashley Walters; he was a rapper who went to jail for having a converted gas pistol in a previous life, so to speak. Before getting his act together and becoming a thespian, Walters really lived a rendition of the lifestyle portrayed, per this Guardian report at the time. Co-star Kane “Kano” Robinson is also a fairly wired in urban character, and particularly skilled hip-hop artist.
More rappers, exquisite rhymer Dave and female spitter Little Simz, have been added to the acting roster. There are some images available on this article from Hypebeast.
Show Snob predicts much treachery and violence this season; judging from the unnerving, ominous feel of the above clips.
Are you looking forward to Top Boy’s return? If you haven’t seen it, please take this 4-star recommendation and catch up now on Netflix.
