In the seventh episode of Pose season 2, the Vogue hype is dwindling away forcing everyone to make some drastic decisions.

Pose is reaching the end of its second season quickly, which makes me sadder than anything. It’s been such a powerful season focused on important social issues of the 80s, and quite honestly, has taught me a great deal. But as the 80s are slowly coming to a close on Pose, the “Vogue” hype is going away with it. This, in turn, affects Damon’s YMCA dance classes whose attendance is pretty much non-existent, Ricky isn’t getting any dancing jobs, and no one seems too amused by the ballroom anymore.

It’s a time of change on Pose and everyone is having to adjust. Speaking of which, following Candy’s death, Lulu is having a hard time dealing with life and everything that comes along with it. And, of course, Blanca is struggling to fight against Fredrica who shut down her nail salon. Things are seeming pretty bleak, aren’t they?

Because of the slump, everyone is in, Ricky, Damon, and Lulu are pretty much laying around doing a whole lot of nothing all day. Pray Tell and Blanca decide to take matters into their own hand and give them the task of making a giant condom that will wrap around Fredrica’s home. By the way, this is based on a true story!

Luckily, giving them focus and a job to do gets them motivated to the point that even Elektra joins the cause. Things are finally looking up on Pose!

Angel and Papi’s relationship is growing day by day as does Angel’s career, but while at a party one night, the two find themselves getting wrapped up in drugs. And later when Damon catches them doing drugs at home, it reminds Angel that she needs to get her crap together. If Damon’s speech didn’t help, then Eileen Ford’s sure did.

Mission Condom ends up being a success and snags the attention of the local television stations, and ultimately leads Blanca to win her case against Fredrica. The nail salon is here to stay!

Thanks to Blanca’s interfering and motherly love, everyone ends up back on the right path, more or less. Lulu decides to enroll in school, Damon finds a new passion for being an activist, but unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Ricky. After Pray Tell convinces Ricky to get tested for HIV once again, they learn that Ricky tested positive for it.

I’m not sure what’s happening here but the way Pray comforts Ricky is indicating some sort of romantic relationship in the future, and I’m here for it. If anyone can understand what Ricky is going through, it’s Pray, so let’s see where this new friendship takes us.
