It’s time for a girl’s trip in this week’s episode of Pose!

Pose takes a much needed light-hearted detour in this week’s episode as the girls treat themselves to a beach trip. As I said, this season has been extremely heavy so this type of episode is exactly what we needed, and of course, the characters as well. Before we get to the good stuff, however, we see why Blanca needs a reason to get away in the first place.

After battling it out with Frederica all season, Blanca finally feels her wrath when she learns that her nail salon has been burnt to the ground. It’s all based on speculation and assumption, but it’s pretty obvious Frederica is behind this. She wanted Blanca out, and now she is.

This calls for a girl’s trip, though! Everyone’s been through a lot lately so Elektra decides to make it happen. One of her BDSM clients has a house by the beach and in exchange for giving him what he wants (to be blindfolded and locked up in a cage), he’s letting Elektra and the girls use his house. And what a house it is!

More from Show Snob

Pose finally brings some happiness into this season as the girls head off to the beach. It’s Blanca’s first time seeing the ocean ever which prompts her to take it all in. Unfortunately, she begins to enjoy it a bit too much and gets swept into the waves of the ocean. She’s not a great swimmer, but have no fear, the handsome lifeguard is near. And when I say handsome, I mean really handsome. He pulls Blanca out of the water, gives her CPR, and saves her life–and then the two lock eyes in the most romantic of ways.

Later that night, the girls decide to go out to dinner and ignore anyone that has anything bad to say about them. The best part of this scene is when Elektra takes down one of the snooty country club women that tries to tell them to shut up. As I said, they’re not letting anyone make them feel bad during this trip.

Meanwhile, Blanca ends up running into the handsome lifeguard from earlier, Adrian, who asks her to take a walk down the beach with him. The girls, especially Elektra, aren’t too thrilled about letting Blanca go especially because much too often, their community is attacked and killed by people trying to hide their shame.

But something about this guy tells Blanca it’ll be fine, and it was! The two share a romantic walk down the beach, they kiss, and Adrian even makes her feel comfortable with who she is. He knows, and he’s okay with it. Sigh! Love is real!

I’m so happy to see Blanca finally getting some happiness after everything she’s been through. I was a bit worried that things wouldn’t work out for her. But when she and Angel get back home from the trip, there is a message waiting for her on the answering machine from Adrian. Yay!

Next week is the Pose season 2 finale, and given how the season has gone, I have no idea where we will leave things. All we can hope for is that it ends with similar sentiments as this week’s season 2 penultimate episode. But I doubt it.

Pose airs every Tuesday at 10 PM on FX!
