A Million Little Things season 2, episode 5 recap: Austin
By Ariba Bhuvad
A Million Little Things brings Katherine and Eddie closer together–and we couldn’t be happier!
A Million Little Things has been spending a great deal of time patching things up between Eddie and Katherine. In the previous episode, we saw how they finally came together and are finally moving on from all the drama of their marriage. Delilah is in the rearview mirror, and now Eddie can be with Katherine while still caring for baby Charlie. It’s a pretty solid deal, isn’t it?
Well, yes, but this is why he’s thrown for a loop when he sees that Katherine has been searching for jobs and homes in other places, like Austin. When he confronts her, she admits that it’s really hard for her to be where they are, constantly forced to face the reality of their lives. But she also understands that he can’t just get up and move because of Charlie.
In a huge romantic gesture, Eddie tells her that they can’t leave the state, but there is one thing they can do–move into a new house! Thank you A Million Little Things for giving us a love story we can believe in and be inspired by!

Speaking of love stories, Rome and Regina have been struggling a bit with their own. Over the last couple of episodes, there has been some friction there and it comes to a head when Rome directs a Lexus commercial.
Remember his and Regina’s conversation about having children, or rather not having children? Well, Rome uses it as inspiration to create the Lexus commercial he’s working on.
Naturally, Regina notices the conversation and is livid with Rome for using it without talking to her. There isn’t much time to fight since she and Rome are having a 50th anniversary dinner for Rome’s parents who are dealing with drama of their own.
When his father doesn’t get the present his mother was expecting, rough words are exchanged and yet another fight breaks out.
But by the end of the episode, Rome’s dad realizes he messed up and not only presents himself in the same outfit he was wearing all those years ago, but presents Rome’s mother with the present she was waiting for–cruise tickets.

Gary and Maggie have had quite a rough go at things ever since Maggie learned about the truth of her brother’s heart. Their distance continues to grow as we’ve seen over the last couple of episodes, and it’s not getting any better in this episode of A Million Little Things. Instead of confiding in Gary, she’s been spending more time with Eric (the guy who has Chad’s heart). In fact, in the previous episode, she found solace and comfort with him one Gary.
The breast cancer survivor group tries to help Gary see what’s going on with Maggie. She’s trying to figure out what her life means right in this moment. She’s not dying anymore, and now she has to figure out how to live, which is not something she’s used to especially since being with Gary.
The Dixon household faces a dilemma in this episode as they argue over Charlie’s birth announcement. In the past, the family would take a picture together, but now with Jon gone, it doesn’t seem right. But instead of taking a photo of just Charlie or just the Dixon family, Delilah decides to start a new tradition–taking a family photo with all of their friends. It’s pretty darn cute!
A Million Little Things airs new episodes every Thursday on ABC at 9 PM EST!
