American Horror Story: 1984 season 9, episode 8 recap: Rest in Pieces
By Ariba Bhuvad
The season 9 penultimate episode of American Horror Story gives 80s horror fans everything they could have ever wanted!
American Horror Story is just one episode away from the end of its ninth season, and there’s still quite a bit to wrap up. Let’s start with Brooke and Donna who get themselves into a hot mess with a National Enquirer reporter who immediately recognizes Brooke. And why wouldn’t she? She’s the face of the Camp Redwood massacre!
But this reporter isn’t as innocent as she seems, in fact, she’s horrendous. Brooke basically has to make a deal with her in exchange for learning about what really went down during the Camp Redwood massacre. And in the midst of all of this, Bruce (played by Dylan McDermott) is eager to kill Brooke and Donna for what they did to him. But come on, he’s the creepy killer!
At Camp Redwood, murder is taking on its usual form. You know, like the entire band being brutally murdered ahead of their performance at the festival. Margaret doesn’t seem to care much about it, and just blows it off as just another day at Camp Redwood.

Things get interesting when dead Mr. Jingles tries to kill Richard Ramirez but ends up getting ambushed by people he’s killed in the past. It’s really starting to get difficult keeping track of who’s alive and who is dead. Does Richard Ramirez count as alive since he was resurrected? I have no freaking idea.
Well, it appears he is very much alive because the ghosts of Jingles’ past don’t want him to kill Ramirez. Once he does, Ramirez will be stuck within the grounds of Camp Redwood, and will pretty much make everyone else miserable.
American Horror Story continues to chug along as Brooke fills the reporter in about everything that happened during the 1984 massacre.
But what this reporter doesn’t know, is that Brooke plans on killing her before she can print any such story about the massacre. Brooke went from zero to killer real fast, didn’t she?

Things get even weirder when Margaret reveals that she wants people to flock to Camp Redwood to immerse themselves in the madness of everything that happened there. This is why she decides to kill everyone that is supposed to perform at the festival, making herself one of the most frightening serial killers of all time.
This American Horror Story episode ends on a weird note as we see Mr. Jingles with his mother and brother (after being pulled into the lake by his dead brother’s rotting body) on a picnic. Given that Mr. Jingles has been tormented all these years with what he’s done, this is supposedly a happy ending for him. But does he deserve it? And who will be standing alive in the American Horror Story season 9 finale? We’ll have to wait to find out.
Check out the American Horror Story season 9 finale on Wednesday at 10 PM EST on FX!
