HBO’s The Gilded Age reveals five new cast members

HBO’s The Gilded Age just announced five cast members!
The Gilded Age will soon be the series to watch on HBO. Mainly because Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is the man behind it. The series will follow millionaire titans in 1880s New York City, according to Deadline. I don’t know about all of you but I’m already intrigued by whatever this series has to offer.
Earlier this week HBO announced five cast members for the upcoming HBO series which only adds to the allure of it. We’ve got Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), Louisa Jacobson (Gone Hollywood), Denée Benton (Hamilton), Blake Ritson (Krypton), and Simon Jones (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy).
They join a previously stacked cast inclusive of Christine Baranski, Amanda Peet, Cynthia Nixon, and Morgan Spector. Baranski in a period drama?! This is going to be so epic–so, so epic.

- The Santa Clauses season 2, episode 6 recap “Wanga Banga Langa!”
- Lawmen: Bass Reeves season 1, episode 7 preview: Non-spoiler thoughts for Part VII
- Goosebumps season 1, episode 6 recap: “Night of the Living Dummy”
- Beacon 23 season 1, episode 3 recap: “Why Can’t We Go on as Three?”
- Upload season 3, episode 2 recap: “Strawberry”
Given the time period of the series, the plot will hone in on the financial disparities within classes, particularly old and new money. Since this was a tumultuous time for the United States, we will see a lot of the economic distress of the time depicted in The Gilded Age.
The story begins in 1882 with a young woman by the name of Marian Brook who moves from the South into her aunts’ house in New York City. As time goes on, Marian finds herself wrapped up in the lives of all the riches around her, including the Astor and Vanderbilt families.
As times are transforming in the 1880s, The Gilded Age will show the country’s transformation during a crucial time in our history. Sounds pretty darn exciting, doesn’t it?
So, who will be playing who? Check out the list below!
- Denée Benton: A young child named Peggy during the time of slavery abolition
- Louisa Jacobson: The heroine of the story, Marian Brook, who wants to live a life different than what her time allows her to live
- Taissa Farmiga: Plays Gladys Russell, daughter of a rich family that wants to be treated as an adult
- Blake Ritson: Plays Oscar Van Rhijn, Only interested in money and wants to marry an heiress
- Simon Jones: Plays Bannister, An English butler to the Van Rhijn family
Based on what we know so far, The Gilded Age sounds absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to learn more about it in the coming months. Let’s just hope it premieres sooner rather than later!
