Hen works through the traumatic accident while Bobby’s life is at risk after a radioactive accident on this week’s episode of 9-1-1.

9-1-1 is back after a brief hiatus and picks up right where it left off–with Hen working through the horrible accident. In case you’ve forgotten, Hen drove the truck into a young woman’s car who passed away as a result. As we learn in this episode, it wasn’t Hen’s fault, and she did everything she was supposed to. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, the accident occurred and someone died.

It’s difficult for Hen to process all of this, naturally. She can’t seem to forgive herself or stop thinking about the girl who died. She goes to therapy to talk through it while the investigation is underway. It’s heartbreaking to see that she blames herself. Aisha Hinds does an amazing job portraying Hen’s conflicted mind and journey towards acceptance.

Luckily, Hen comes to an understanding by the time the episode ends. This self-renewed affirmation comes after she and Karen go away to a wellness retreat and bump into a woman named Stacey. She’s the reason Hen became a paramedic and she’s the reason Hen remembers why she needs to go back to work. Hen is good at her job and deserves to move on from what happened, as tragic as it was.

9-1-1 also focuses on Maddie’s path to recovery, which is an interesting insight into where she’s at after killing her husband. Of course, things get a bit more intense when Tara calls Maddie asking for help. Remember Tara? She’s the woman Maddie tried to help by overstepping, and now it seems the very same woman needs her.

When Maddie arrives at Tara’s house she finds Tara beaten up with blood all over her–while holding a gun. When her husband started beating her up again, she grabbed a gun and shot him.

He didn’t end up dying from it, but it seemed like Tara wanted him to bleed out. Maddie interfered and got Tara to call 9-1-1 eventually, but the outcome was not what she expected.

At the hospital, Tara’s husband says it was all an accident and Tara reveals they are going to work on things. It’s the moment that Maddie realizes she can’t help Tara in the way she was trying to. She has to work on herself, which is exactly what she does when she breaks down in therapy. Maddie wants to talk about how she really feels about killing her husband–and I have a feeling it’s going to get really heavy.

The scariest part of the episode this week is when the team is called out to help with a fire. But it’s not an ordinary fire due to the liquids that were being transported. The accident caused the content to start burning which caused a white fire due to the magnesium. However, there was also cobalt-60 in the truck, and if it would have exploded, it would have been a mini-Chernobyl.

Unfortunately, Bobby stayed back to help the driver while dispatch brought liquid nitrogen to take out the fire. Due to the amount of time Bobby was surrounded by radioactive elements, it could mean his health is in danger. For now, he’s okay, but I think we may start to see the repercussions of it throughout the season.

Please don’t let Bobby get sick, we can’t lose him!

But hey, good news, Hen is back at the 118, and ready to drive. Thank goodness for that.
