Syfy’s Resident Alien has added Terminator actor Linda Hamilton alongside other well-known TV stars to their cast.

Resident Alien, the TV adaptation from Syfy—set to release part way through 2020—has added Terminator star Linda Hamilton, Bajillion Dollar Propertie$’ Mandell Maughan, and Alex Barima, best known for recurring roles on The Exorcist and Riverdale, according to Deadline.

The TV show is based on the on-going Dark Horse Comics series created by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse and will be produced for television by Universal Content Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment, and Amblin TV.

Resident Alien follows an alien who has crashed on Earth and assumes the identity of the human Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle until he can be rescued. Vanderspeigle will be played by Firefly and Rogue One actor Alan Tudyk, who is sure to channel his comedic skills into creating a believable character.

As he bides his time on earth, Vanderspeigle becomes embroiled in a murder mystery in his town that gives him a new appreciation of humanity.

Vanderspeigle will be facing a major threat on the show—his imminent discovery by a secret alien-hunting military team, led by General McCallister, set to be played by Hamilton.

Both Maughan and Barima will be playing characters in McCallister’s orbit. Maughan takes on the role of military enforcer Lisa Casper, while Barima plays David Logan, a recently discharged military man. Both are tasked by McCallister to hunt down Vanderspeigle.

Alongside Tudyk, Once Upon a Time’s Sara Tomko, The Closer’s Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, and Levi Fiehler have already been announced as series regulars.

In early 2019, Resident Alien was ordered to series based on the pilot episode directed by David Dobkin, best known for The Judge. Writers for the series include Chris Sheridan—who will also serve as executive producer. Sheridan is best known for his writing on Family Guy, and will be joined by Elias Benavidez, who has written for Siren. Original comic creator Hogan will be consulting on the series.

No announcement yet as to whether any women will be added to the writers’ room or who the rest of the directors for the series will be.

The cast is racially diverse—though the primary roles appear to belong to a largely white cast. However, the inclusion of yet another ‘waifu’ in an action-heavy role is frustrating considering the pushback from the geek community in recent years.

The premiere date for the series is yet to be set, and one can assume that more cast members and behind the scenes details will be released in the next few months.

Resident Alien will be available to Syfy viewers from summer 2020.
