Netflix’s Ares season 1, episode 7 recap
As Ares searches for a new president in hopes of restoring balance to the order, Jacob tries to free Beal and Rosa comes under suspicion for the suicides.
Maurits gets a report about Rosa and Carmen’s visit to Rosa’s mother. He clips some flowers and takes them to an old woman Ares keeps locked behind a glass wall in a special room. He consults her about the suicides and she says Rosa should be president of Ares. Maurits needs to adapt to the times in order to survive.
Back at Ares, preparations are being made for a special alumni dinner to choose a new candidate for president. While Carmen has been supportive of Rosa, she knows that her father is thinking of choosing Rosa over her for president and she wants her chance to prove herself.
She confronts Maurits, who agrees to give her a chance. But her test is to kill a baby on life support, which she just can’t go through with. Man, what a brutal vetting process!

Rosa finds Jacob lurking in the basement. He’s been trying to break through the wall to Beal and he’s almost there. He wants to set Beal free. Rosa just wants to leave Ares and she wants to take Jacob with her, but he’s obsessed. He tries to use his black fingers on her, but it doesn’t work on Rosa. Instead, he sees a vision of Beal and an oil-slicked Rosa joined together by a length of chain. Jacob just runs away.
Rosa packs up to leave, but she’s stopped by a group of Ares members who think she’s responsible for the suicides. They take her to the place of offering, the room with the basin on the pedestal where members dump their black puke, and try to make her offer. But nothing comes up and for some reason that proves something to them.
Rosa runs out of the room and escapes down the stairway, but Fleur follows and they get into a struggle as the other members watch on. In the end, Rosa basically beats Fleur to a pulp and then pukes black stuff all over her. Maurits sees this and looks impressed. Jacob has an outburst, claiming that he’s speaking on behalf of Beal and that they’re all going to die.
Jacob is restrained and Maurits approaches Rosa. He wipes off her mouth with his handkerchief and watches her closely as Rosa appears to be in shock. The old woman in the room seems to sense what is happening and is shocked by whatever she feels. Rosa can maybe sense her, too. It looks like Rosa just might be Ares president after all.
