Jamie is closer and closer to losing it all as The Sinner brings him to his boiling point. Will he crack under the pressure?

The Sinner continues to get weirder and weirder as Jamie officially dives off the deep end this week. The episode starts off with him in a bloody mess, which he proceeds to clean up, and then head home. Um, what?

His wife, Leela, is perplexed by her husband’s strange behavior and is reluctant to believe him. And she almost does, until she notices that he has blood on his ear. You, uh, missed a spot there, Jamie. It looks like Jamie isn’t exactly comfortable sharing that he just murdered a psychic in the middle of the night.

At this point, Ambrose is feeling pretty horrible about the fact that he was passed out in his car while Jamie snuck out and committed a murder. I mean, we’ve been following this guy for three seasons of The Sinner, we know he’s always there and present–as much as he can be.

I particularly enjoyed the interaction between Ambrose and Jamie a bit later in the episode. It’s very heated, emotional, but there’s also a sinister vibe to it. Again, Matt Bomer is so amazing at roles like this. He just exudes this creepy, scary way about him, and does it so freaking well! I’m legitimately frightened of him. I miss the innocent days of White Collar!

Jamie goes to Harry, admitting he screwed up bad. Of course, Harry’s only piece of advice for Jamie is to come clean about what he’s done. That is not an option Jamie will even consider, and storms off under the assumption he’s got this all on lockdown.

When Jamie gets to work, things only spiral out of control there. The investigator looking into the murder at the party pulls him out of class to talk to him. She’s pretty certain Jamie is involved in some way and catches him in lies all over the place. To make matters worse, he’s asked for a DNA sample.

I think the episode hits its climax and most stressful point after Sonya goes to visit Leela at work. It’s clear Leela has no idea the things Jamie has done. As far as Leela is concerned, there was an accident, and that’s it. Well, that isn’t the case after Sonya and her talk.

Which takes us to the Burns’ home where Leela confronts Jamie about everything. She’s livid, understandably, and kicks him out of the house. She’s done with the lies, and she’s officially freaked out by her husband.

This is the tipping point for Jamie who is asked to take a leave of absence from work and is called back by the investigator who is gathering mounting evidence against Jamie. Flashbacks reveal that Jamie did indeed kill the psychic in what was a very gruesome murder, to say the least. Because the psychic told Jamie things he didn’t want to hear, Jamie lost it and murdered the man.

The Sinner ends with a crazed Jamie showing up at Ambrose’s house, talking to Ambrose’s grandson (who is visiting) outside. Once Ambrose realizes what is happening, he rushes out and gets in an altercation with Jamie, asking him to leave.

I don’t know what is going to happen, but Jamie is certainly not the guy we met at the start of the season. And I’m left with concern for Ambrose and Jamie’s family.
