Ryan Murphy is keeping himself very busy with American Horror Story by developing a spinoff series titled American Horror Stories.

American Horror Story Season 10 might be postponed for a while, but Ryan Murphy is staying busier than ever with a potential new spinoff series in the works.

According to TVLine, Murphy announced the possible new horror series during a Zoom call with several of the long-time American Horror Story cast members, including Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, and more.

The new show will tentatively be titled American Horror Stories and serve as an offshoot of its long-running horror anthology predecessor. By definition, it sounds similar to other one-hour anthology shows like Black Mirror, except obviously this one will be more similar to Murphy’s signature campy style.

The project should well-suited for Murphy since he often has trouble writing cohesive plotlines that can stretch across an entire season or more.

Even though American Horror Story changes themes every season, one of the biggest criticisms each year is a large number of subplots, many of which go nowhere, such as the aliens from Asylum.

Being able to write tons of different stories pared down to one-hour episodes might be good for Murphy.

He seems to get bored of doing the same thing for too long (another good example is Glee, which truly went off the rails after a few seasons, the same can be said for Nip/Tuck).

As for where this new show might air, it is not yet clear. Murphy has yet to make a deal with FX. Still, it would be shocking if the network didn’t latch on to the spinoff since AHS is one of their most lucrative properties, and they appear to be very invested, considering they gave the show a three-season renewal not too long ago.
