Creepshow Season 3: Shudder orders more scripts!
Although coronavirus has delayed production on season 2 of Creepshow, Shudder has already ordered scripts for a potential Creepshow Season 3.
As Shudder General Manager Craig Engler explained in a June 16 press release: “[We] wanted to use the time to start work on season 3 scripts to let Greg Nicotero and his amazing team get as far ahead as possible.” In its first season, Creepshow became the most-watched program in the network’s history, all but totally reassuring a second season.
Why might that be the case? Creepshow’s entire first season was driven by the belief that something new, innovative, and different could happen in the horror genre and that this was possible as long as someone knew what they were doing.

The series will have the same development team for seasons 2 and 3 — Greg Nicotero’s Monster Agency Productions. It’s also likely that Creepshow will continue showcasing well-known voices in horror as well as relatively fresh faces.
In a nod to the original film directed by Georga A. Romero, the season 1 premiere featured Adrienne Barbeau in a story written by Stephen King (the original film was written by King, who also appeared in one of its segments).
Don’t forget: You can still watch “Creepshow” while you wait
Yes, the creative world has largely stalled nowadays, and some of us can hardly wait to see new films and TV shows. However, let’s not forget that we already have plenty of interesting options, even within the Creepshow universe itself. In addition to the aforementioned original film and series, there’s also Creepshow 2.
Plus, of course, one can watch other horror shows and movies, either on Shudder or elsewhere. Since Shudder was founded in 2015, that lucrative service has made horror (and related genres) increasingly available to the casual viewing public.
Creepshow Season 3: What will the future hold?
In the press release, producer Greg Nicotero’s words are like a promise: “The stories we have in the pipeline for season 2 are even more outrageous, more fun and capture the spirit of what George Romero and Stephen King started in the ‘80s.” We don’t know what you can expect when the new season debuts, but the first season had a creepy dollhouse, werewolves fighting Nazis, vengeful pets, a sea monster, a cursed monkey’s paw, and a diet plan to die for.
Moods ranged from body horror to borderline Scooby-Doo-esque horror-comedy. In addition to Nicotero and Stephen King, season one also had Joe Hill, Joe R. Lansdale, and John Harrison, and other writers under its creative umbrella. Of course, it also featured actors like David Arquette, Tobin Bell, Giancarlo Esposito, Tricia Helfer, Dana Gould, DJ Qualls, Big Boi, and Kid Cudi. Also, Tom Savini directed the segment By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain.
It’s not known if any season one actors or writers are returning for season 2. Part of the Shudder series’ success is the current era of horror, which tends to not censor content for blood and gore (censorship traditionally is the bane of horror fans).
While some stories will be favored over others, there is never the sense that studio bosses were forced to cut scenes out to reassure “concerned parents” or sensitive viewers. Also, the ordering of third season scripts assures us that the delay is not a sign of trouble with the series itself. You can follow Shudder on Twitter.
