The Alienist Season 2 has moved up its premiere date

The Alienist Season 2, also known as The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, will now air a little bit earlier, according to a new press release from TNT.

We previously reported that The Alienist Season 2 would debut on July 26, but now fans won’t have to wait quite as long with the series now returning on July 19 with back-to-back episodes premiering at 9 p.m. ET. It will run through August 9.

The Alienist Season 2 will air two episodes a week

Now for some good news/bad news. In a desire to give fans extra thrilling television at a faster pace, TNT will be airing two episodes of The Alienist a week. For some people, this might be a good thing since it means fans will be getting extra content on a weekly basis. On the downside, it also means the season will be over much faster.

The fact the network is willing to burn off its second season so fast could also potentially mean that TNT does not necessarily desire to make a third season of the show.

That said, there are only two books in the series written by Caleb Carr, so it would make sense for it to only run two seasons — as there are only two books.

Season 2 of The Alienist will focus more on Dakota Fanning’s character, Sara, who has opened her own private detective agency.

TNT has released a new promo for the series in light of the new release date. Check it out for yourself below. Luke Evans and Daniel Brühl will also return for the second season.
