Emmys 2020: Who is hosting the show?

Last year, the Emmys went without a host, which many felt was a good decision from the academy. Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the award show this year for the third time.

He previously hosted the Primetime Emmys in 2012 and 2016. Instead of hosting the show from the Microsoft Theatre, Kimmel will present it from the Staples Center to allow for more room to do things virtually.

According to Entertainment Tonight, there will be no live audience. Cameras have been set up in more than 140 locations so that nominees can be included live rather than solely through video conferencing apps.

Emmys 2020: Is there any pre-show content to watch?

Since there will not be a red carpet this year, don’t expect as much pre-show content as in past years. However, many celebrities not in attendance will be dressing up at home and sharing photos and videos on their Instagram and other social media platforms.

Plus, celebrities scheduled to attend are sure to dress to the nines even if they don’t walk the red carpet. Entertainment Tonight is hosting an after-show that you can stream free on ETLive or via your Roku, Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV.

Other pre-shows at home will be hosted by People, ABC, E!, and more. Most will be hosted via their websites or official YouTubes. If you prefer to stick to television, ABC is hosting a pre-show that kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET before the show.
