I know it’s hard to believe, but October is right around the corner, and that means a lot of new TV shows are coming back.
Even better, several TV shows are premiering too. It’s going to be a stacked month for television. I shared a list of three returning shows and three brand-new shows that you absolutely should check during the spookiest month of the year!

Carrie
- Premieres on Oct. 7, 2026, on Prime Video
Mike Flanagan never misses with his adaptations, and he probably won’t miss with Carrie. This is the latest adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel about a sheltered girl who is bullied at school and later learns she has telekinetic powers.
If you’ve ever seen the original Carrie film, you know how this story goes. But if we’re being honest, Mike Flanagan always finds a way to add a twist or a new, ingenious idea that makes the story even better. The miniseries will have eight episodes, all released at the same time. This will for sure become a major hit in the horror community.
Nobody Wants This season 3
- Returns on Oct. 22, 2026, on Netflix
The Primetime Emmy-nominated series returns for its anticipated third season. If you’ve never seen the series, it follows a rabbi named Noah (Adam Brody) and an agnostic woman (Kristen Bell) who fall in love despite their opposing backgrounds and views.
Each year a new season comes out, and I feel like more and more people talk about it. Bell and Brody’s chemistry is truly some of the best on the platform, and it’s always fun to see their comedic story continued in the most heartfelt way. The season will have 10 episodes, and all will be released at the same time.
East Of Eden
- Premieres on Oct. 1, 2026, on Netflix.
Starring a slew of stars (Florence Pugh, Joseph Zada, Joe Anders, Christopher Abbott, and Mike Faist), this adaptation of the famous novel is one that you won’t want to miss. The story retells several stories from the Bible, mainly Genesis, and focuses heavily on the tale of Cain and Abel through the eyes of wealthy families in the post-World War I era. But this retelling centers on Cathy Ames, digging deeper into her psychology.
The book has been adapted before, but there’s something about this adaptation that really stands out. I think the fact that several big stars have signed on means something huge, and the story they are trying to tell will be very different but well-written. It’s a fall TV series we’re quite excited for. The miniseries drops all seven episodes at once.
Dexter: Resurrection season 2
- Returns on Oct. 30, 2026, on Paramount+.
What began as a limited series has become a multi-season series. Dexter: Resurrection returns for its second season on Paramount+. Continuing Dexter: New Blood, the series follows Dexter (Michael C. Hall) as he searches for his missing son in New York City, only to learn that Angel Batista has tracked him to the same area.
Without spoiling anything, the series does a great job exploring who Dexter is now while also digging deeper into his psychology and how he became who he was earlier in life. It also blends the past and present, seemingly using Dexter’s son not just as a plot device but as a character with his own storylines. It’s intriguing and fun for any Dexter fan. New episodes will premiere weekly.
VisionQuest
- Premieres on Oct. 14, 2026, on Disney+.
I bet you never thought you’d see this series, but VisionQuest is actually happening. The show, which stars Paul Bettany as the titular Vision, follows him after WandaVision as he explores his own mind and meaning in the world while also dealing with a teenager who might be his son.
For years, it felt like we'd never get this show, since there were barely any updates on what was happening with it. But eventually, we got the answers we were looking for when the trailer finally dropped. And it looks good. Like, really good. As a Wanda lover, I was more than happy to see this story continue after years of waiting, and I have a feeling it’ll be great. New episodes will premiere weekly.
The Lowdown season 2
- Returns on Oct. 14, 2026, on Hulu.
Last but not least, The Lowdown is returning for a second season. The FX on Hulu show is a crime comedy drama that stars Ethan Hawke and Keith David and follows a used bookstore owner who calls himself a “truthstorian” and a private investigator, both of whom get involved in the death of a wealthy local person.
I think, of the shows on this list, this is the most grounded, but it is also a lot of fun. David and Hawke’s chemistry is so interesting, and they are a delight to watch on screen. Plus, nothing quite says fall like a crime series when the weather starts to get a little chilly. New episodes will be released weekly.
