True Detective Season 2: Everything falls on Nic Pizzolatto
By Josh Hill
With the second season of True Detective coming soon, there has been a lot of talk about the behind the scenes aspect of the series. The cast is largely in place, with Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch headlining things, but the crew of the show is starting to get looked at by fans who want answers as to who is in charge.

Nic Pizzolatto is in charge, and that means more than a few things in terms of what could happen depending on the quality of season two.
He won praise with his work writing season one, but if things go south in the follow up season, Pizzolatto has nothing to shield himself from the criticism. He bailed on the idea of having just one director per season after allegedly clashing with Emmy winner Cary Fukunaga about the direction of the show last year.
If things had gone bad, there would have been two people to blame as two creative minds were in charge of the whole season. Now there is just one — Pizzolatto — and that’s either going to backfire or pay off greatly. He’s there to take sole credit if things go well, but if the season falls short in any way of the first season — and there’s a good chance it might — then Pizzolatto will have to answer for things all by his lonesome.
