Is True Detective the best show on HBO right now?

True Detective is about to begin production on its second season this month, but fans of the series can’t wait for the show to come back wit new episodes. There has been a void in the True Detective world that has been filled only by parodies and credit re-cuts, but no new material from HBO.

Fans of the show are crazy, there is no way around it, but do they stack up against other xrazy fans of HBO shows? This all begs the question of whether or not True Detective is the best show on HBO at the moment.
While it may pain fans to admit it, True Detective is probably the second or third best show on HBO. Game of Thrones is the hands down winner of that contest and Boardwalk Empire has five years of episodes to stand on ahead of True Detective. But the series is up there with some of the best shows in television history, which while it’s not the top prize is one heck of a consolation prize to show off.
